Who is Eligible?
Associates who work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to participate in health insurance, purchase voluntary insurance, participate in 401(k) and earn time off benefits.

Associates who work 20-29 hours per week are eligible to purchase voluntary insurance, participate in 401(k) and earn time off benefits.

Associates who work less than 20 hours per week are eligible to purchase voluntary insurance and 401(k).

 

Who can I Cover on my Insurance?
In general, eligible dependents include:

  • legal spouse
  • natural children
  • step-children
  • adopted children
  • foster children

However, some plans may have additional dependent eligibility rules that apply. Log in to view each plan's Summary Plan Description (SPD).

 

Important - Dependent Verification: New members to The Plan will be asked to verify your dependent's eligibility for coverage. You will be required to supply proof of dependent's relationship to you when you enroll. If you are unable to supply during enrollment, you will have 30 days from your enrollment date to supply the documentation. Dependent coverage will not be approved until documentation is received and approved.

When to Enroll
New Hires:
You must enroll within 30 days of your date of hire.  Your date of hire is typically the first day you report at Schneider.

Annual Enrollment (US Only): Each year in November, Schneider gives Associates the opportunity to reivew your enrollment choices and make changes to coverage to suit your family's needs. This is the one time a year when you can make any changes to your benefits, unless you have a qualifying mid-year event (life event).

Mid-Year Changes (US Only): Elections you make as a New Hire or during Open Enrollment are for the entire plan year. You can only change your benefits if you experience a qualified life event. Some examples include marriage, divorce, birth/adoption, newly eligible for Medicare, gain or loss of other coverage.

Depending on your Associate classification, coverage begins 30, 60 or 90 days from your date of hire.  Some plans may vary based on specific plan rules.

Verify your coverage
Be sure to review your Benefit Summary closely to ensure your elections meet your wishes. Benefits cannot be changed outside of an enrollment window.


Did you submit dependent eligibility documentation?
If you enrolled any dependents, their coverage will not be applied until you supply proof of dependent eligibility. You will have 30 days from the date you submit your enrollment to provide those documents (upload or mail). If you do not supply proof, your dependents will not be added to the plan.


Did you complete your Evidence of Insurability health questions?
Some voluntary products may require you to complete Evidence of Insurability (EOI) questions. A link to these health questions will be provided after enrollment in your To Do task bar.

The health plan available to Schneider associates is called the Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP). It provides:

  • Medical and Prescription coverage
  • A Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), which Schneider funds annually.
  • 100% in-network coverage for routine preventive services.
  • Coinsurance after your deductible is met. In-network, the plan pays 80% and you pay 20%.
